Investment Opportunities across the Middle East and Central Asia

IIIH identifies high-potential opportunities, prepares projects to international investment standards, structures transactions and governs delivery from origination to completion — across Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan, Uzbekistan and the Persian Gulf Arab states.

Three value flows

Three operational directions

The IIIH model is bidirectional — inbound capital, outbound flow and needs matching — all governed under one integrated architecture, applied consistently across every market we cover.

01

Inbound flow

Foreign capital (Europe / GCC / Asia) → regional opportunities — with due diligence, deal structuring and execution oversight in the destination jurisdiction.

02

Outbound flow

Regional capital → verified foreign producers, suppliers and technology partners — partnership, procurement and technology cooperation, governed on both sides.

03

Needs matching

Verified regional demand → qualified foreign supplier — with vendor assessment, procurement advisory and contract coordination.

Why the region

The Middle East and Central Asia combine some of the world's largest hydrocarbon and mineral reserves, a geo-economic position linking three continents via north–south and east–west corridors, a consumer market of over 250 million people and a young, educated workforce — forming one of the world's most diverse and under-served investment markets.

Geo-economic position

A land bridge linking Europe, Asia and the Gulf via north–south and east–west transit corridors.

  • ·INSTC corridor — shortest rail route Europe to India (≈40% shorter than the Suez route)
  • ·East–West corridor: connecting China to Europe through Central Asia and Iran
  • ·Gulf and Caspian access: 2,800 km of Iranian coastline plus the GCC's deep-water port network
  • ·Chabahar and Gwadar — gateways for landlocked Central Asia and Afghanistan to open seas

Natural resources

Among the world's largest oil, gas and mineral reserves, concentrated in a single contiguous region.

  • ·Regional gas reserves: Iran 32 tn m³ (2nd globally), Qatar, Iraq and Turkmenistan add world-scale volumes
  • ·Proven oil reserves: Iran 208 bn bbl, Iraq 145 bn bbl, Saudi Arabia 267 bn bbl
  • ·Petrochemicals: Iranian capacity 90 Mt/yr (target 180 Mt by 2031); large GCC expansion pipeline
  • ·Mining: 55+ mineral types in Iran; Afghanistan's estimated $1 tn untapped deposits (copper, lithium, rare earths); Uzbek gold and uranium
  • ·Solar potential: 300+ sunny days/year across most of the region

Market & workforce

A large, young consumer market and a competitively priced technical workforce.

  • ·Combined population: 250+ million across Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan, Uzbekistan and the GCC
  • ·Regional workforce: tens of millions employed at globally competitive cost
  • ·Iran alone: ~1 million university graduates/year, strong in engineering and technology
  • ·Median age below 30 across most of the region — a structural consumption and labour advantage
  • ·GCC sovereign wealth: $4+ trillion under management — a regional capital source, not only a destination

Industrial & agricultural diversity

A diversified industrial base and globally dominant positions in selected agricultural exports.

  • ·Automotive: Iran produces 1+ million vehicles/year — the region's largest producer
  • ·Pistachios: ~50% of global production; saffron: ~80% of global production (Iran and Afghanistan)
  • ·Steel: Iranian capacity 35 Mt/yr — 10th globally; GCC aluminium among the world's most cost-competitive
  • ·Cement: Iranian capacity 80 Mt/yr; strong regional reconstruction demand (Iraq, Afghanistan)
  • ·Cotton and textiles: Uzbekistan among the world's top producers, with an active downstream investment programme

Renewable energy & technology

Large-scale renewables targets and a fast-growing regional technology ecosystem.

  • ·Solar and wind: Iran targets 10 GW; Saudi Arabia and the UAE target tens of GW by 2030
  • ·Grid modernisation: 80+ GW Iranian grid plus large-scale Iraqi and Central Asian upgrade requirements
  • ·Internet users: ~80% penetration across the region's largest markets
  • ·Start-ups: 4,000+ in Iran; rapidly scaling ecosystems in the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Uzbekistan
  • ·Digital services exports: double-digit annual growth across the region's leading markets

Tourism & cultural heritage

One of the world's densest concentrations of UNESCO heritage, with substantial under-built capacity.

  • ·24 UNESCO sites in Iran, 6 in Iraq, 5 in Uzbekistan — a single Silk Road heritage corridor
  • ·Religious tourism: tens of millions of annual pilgrims across Iran, Iraq and Saudi Arabia
  • ·Medical tourism: 150,000+ foreign patients/year in Iran — ~20% annual growth
  • ·Accommodation costs: 50–70% below the wider regional average in several markets
  • ·Hotel room shortage: ~500,000 rooms in Iran alone — a direct investment opportunity

Target sectors across the region

01

Oil, gas & petrochemicals

The region holds the world's largest concentration of proven gas and crude reserves — Iran, Iraq, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Turkmenistan. Opportunity in upstream, downstream and the export-oriented petrochemical chain.

02

Mining & mineral industries

Copper, iron ore, zinc, lead and gold across Iran and Uzbekistan; Afghanistan's largely untapped copper, lithium and rare-earth deposits. Opportunity in exploration, processing and mineral exports.

03

Transport, transit & logistics

A three-continent crossroads: the North–South (INSTC) and East–West corridors link the Caspian, the Gulf, Central Asia and the Indian Ocean. Opportunity in rail, ports, dry ports and logistics platforms.

04

Renewable energy

300+ sunny days across much of the region and strong wind potential, against ageing grids and rising demand. Opportunity in generation plants, transmission and renewable equipment manufacturing.

05

Agriculture & food industries

Climatic diversity and world-leading positions in pistachios, saffron, dates and cotton. Opportunity in processing, cold chain, packaging and food exports.

06

ICT & digital economy

A large domestic market, a young technical workforce and an active start-up ecosystem from Tehran to Dubai to Tashkent. Opportunity in fintech, e-commerce, logistics tech and software services.

07

Tourism, health & wellness

A dense Silk Road heritage corridor, rare natural diversity and large-scale religious and medical tourism flows. Opportunity in hospitality, resorts and medical services.

08

Industry & manufacturing

A diversified industrial base including the region's largest automotive industry and cost-competitive metals. Opportunity in parts, machinery and export-oriented manufacturing.

09

Infrastructure & urban development

Broad modernisation and reconstruction need across transport, water, energy and housing — from Iraqi and Afghan reconstruction to Gulf giga-projects. Opportunity in construction, project finance and urban technology.

10

Reconstruction & post-conflict development

Multi-year reconstruction programmes in Iraq and Afghanistan with donor, multilateral and sovereign funding lines. Opportunity in engineering, materials, utilities and governed programme delivery — the segment where independent oversight carries the highest premium.

Special potential

Damghan Special Economic Zone

IIIH is the appointed investment broker for the zone — an export-oriented zone on the Tehran–Mashhad transit corridor with automotive, agricultural-machinery and processing industries, and the reference case for the mandates IIIH is developing across the wider region.
